Egg Pattern v2.71
Spring. It's a time of celebration and courtship. Dances, dates, and all the theatrics that go along with them. For centuries, spring has been represented by flowers, baby animals of all types, and - of course - their eggs.
This crochet egg pattern can be stuffed or not, and will retain it's shape even when squashed. It can be made with a variety of colors, from the buff (pictured) to any variegated yarn you choose, and still look good. I have tested it with sock yarn (the multi above), size 4/worsted (the buff and lavender), and size 5/bulky yarn (dark purple). I used an L hook for the bulky yarn and a G hook for the others. I don't suggest using this pattern for thread crochet, as it would be extremely tiny.
This particular pattern is worked continuously, without joining. As each row is completed, you move on to immediately stitching the next row in a spiral. The smallest possible hook is used in order to minimize the gaps in the fabric and keep the fiberfill inside without an additional liner.
